Once again I have to say I absolutely LOVE shooting live concerts. For me, shooting concerts is a big challenge, a challenge that I love to take head on! Not only for the thrill of seeing a live band play, but being able to react and capture the right images in a split second with no retakes or do overs. You have to know where to be, what’s going on around you and if possible it’s best to know who your shooting and their music. And if you don’t know the music then you have pay more attention to your surroundings. The pressure of being able to capture the right images in 3 songs (sometimes only 2) is a little nerve racking, but to be honest it teaches you to think quickly, which translates to my lifestyle or wedding photography shoots. As most of you know I shoot for LIVE Magazine, boy I can’t wait for concert season to come back around, I’m so stoked….More to come so stay tuned…
A couple of weeks ago I was invited by my friend and fellow Filipino photographer Alfred Bertulfo to go shoot his friend, Peter Brandon a Southern Californian Country singer. So this past Sunday I tagged along with Alfred down to Club Nokia in downtown LA. I have to say what a cool venue, very easy to shoot and pretty stylish I might add. For those that don’t know Peter Brandon he is an up an coming Country artist, he has just released his 3rd album “For Anything” you can buy it on iTunes. I just want to say THANK YOU to Alfred for inviting me and Peter for allowing me to tag along with Alfred. Of course I had a blast and now I am a fan of Peter’s.
Yesteday Alfred posted on Facebook a couple of shots that were Straight Out Of the Camera (aka SOOC). I thought to myself crap now I have to too. So after going through my images I picked the top 26 that did not need any work in Photoshop or Lightroom, these have not been altered or touched except to add my watermark. Actually this was good challenge not with Alfred but to myself not to touch the images, it was hard since I know a few of these could be a tad bit better if I had. BTW I will have to say image #16 is one of my top 3 concert images ever, SOOC baby!
